Action Alert: Faith-Based Involvement at the 20th International AIDS Conference: Updates and Key Dates

    Registration deadline for the Interfaith Pre-Conference extended; late fee pricing will take effect on Tuesday, 1 July¨

     

    “Stepping Up in Faith: The Interfaith Pre-Conference on HIV” will take place from 18-19 July at the Catholic Leadership Centre in Melbourne. The pre-conference will offer opportunities for theological reflection, sharing of good practices, skills building, advocacy and interfaith collaboration. More information about the pre-conference program is available at www.iacfaith.org/preconference. The full pre-conference program will be online by 2 July.

    The following registrations are available until 30 June 2014:

    Registration fees will increase to USD 330, USD 255, and USD 230 respectively from 30 June.

     

    Pre-conference registration includes:

    • participation in all pre-conference sessions on 18 and 19 July;
    • lunch on 19 July and tea and coffee breaks on 18 and 19 July;
    • invaluable networking opportunities with faith-based participants from around the world.

    If you have already registered for the pre-conference, expect to receive an information packet via e-mail on 4 July to help you prepare to make the most out of your experience.

     

    Sign up for an Exposure Visit at the Interfaith Pre-Conference

     

    Participants in the Interfaith Pre-Conference will have the opportunity to visit one of two local HIV and AIDS organizations the morning of Friday, 18 July, prior to the opening session of the pre-conference. Participants will gather at 11 AM at the Catholic Leadership Centre for a short walk or tram ride to the host organizations.

     

    Each visit is open to 20 people, and sign-up is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A light lunch will be served. To register for an exposure visit, please send an e-mail to bjohnson@e-alliance.ch stating your first and second choice for the visit. While there is no additional cost associated with the exposure visits, donations given to the organizations during your visit are highly appreciated.

    Participate in the Faith Networking Zone at the Global Village

     

    Help us build an innovative, informative and inclusive Faith Networking Zone at this year’s International AIDS Conference, 20-25 July. Submit your ideas for events, prayers, workshops, music, dance, theatre, posters, displays and more to bjohnson@e-alliance.ch. Applications from participants and organizations from all faith traditions are warmly encouraged, as are applications from local faith communities in Melbourne. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until all available slots are filled.

    Schedule Prayer in the Interfaith Prayer Room

     

    A team of 10 Interfaith Chaplains will be present at the International AIDS Conference to offer confidential, spiritual counseling for all delegates. An Interfaith Prayer Room will also be provided for conference delegates at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, to offer time for quiet reflection, prayer and meditation.     Save the Date: Interfaith Prayer Service on 22 July

     

    An Interfaith Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, 22 July at 19h00, immediately following the International AIDS Memorial Candlelight Vigil. The Interfaith Prayer Service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. More details will be available soon!
