Summary

Agriculture is a key sector not only because it is heavily impacted by climate change but also because of the need to reduce emissions. Industrial agriculture is responsible for 30% of  global emissions, yet the sector could offer some solutions, notably via small-scale low emission agricultural models. The main question that was explored at this event was “What should be the guiding principles governing agricultural food security policy and practice in a climate constrained world?” Participants reflected on this through five major themes: 1) mitigation, 2) adaptation, 3) models of production, 4) models of consumption and 5) sustainable development.
